How to Decrypt IMVU Asset Files Back to Readable XML

IMVU stores its 3D assets in encrypted binary formats. Our Decompiler Suite lets you decrypt meshes, skeletons, animations, morphs, and materials back into clean, readable XML.

What Is the IMVU Decompiler?

IMVU uses encrypted binary file formats for its 3D assets. If you've ever tried opening an XMF, XSF, or XAF file in a text editor, you've seen nothing but scrambled data. The Decompiler Suite on IMVU.PRO takes these encrypted files and converts them back into clean, human-readable XML.

This is essential for creators who want to understand how IMVU products are structured or need to work with the raw data.

Supported File Types

The Decompiler Suite includes five specialized tools, one for each IMVU asset type:

Mesh Decrypter (.xmf)

Meshes are the 3D models that make up everything you see in IMVU. They contain vertices, faces, normals, UV maps, and bone influences. The mesh decrypter converts these files into readable XML so you can see exactly how a model is built. It also supports FBX export for use in 3D software.

Skeleton Decrypter (.xsf)

Skeletons define the bone structure of an avatar or product. They contain bone hierarchies, translations, rotations, and parent-child relationships. Decrypting a skeleton file lets you see the full bone tree and understand how the model is rigged.

Animation Decrypter (.xaf)

Animation files store movement data. They contain bone tracks, keyframes, translations, and rotations over time. By decrypting these files, you can see exactly how each bone moves at each frame of an animation.

Morph Decrypter (.xpf)

Morph targets (blend shapes) let parts of a model change shape. These files contain keyframe data and weight animations. The morph decrypter makes this data readable so you can understand how facial expressions and body morphs work.

Material Decrypter (.xrf)

Material files define how surfaces look. They contain ambient color, diffuse color, specular color, shininess values, and texture map references. Decrypting a material file shows you exactly what settings are applied to each surface of a product.

How to Use the Decompiler

  1. Pick the right tool for your file type. Each decrypter handles one specific format.
  2. Upload your file. Just drag and drop or click to select.
  3. Get your results. The decrypted XML appears instantly. You can copy it or download it.

Why This Matters

Understanding the underlying structure of IMVU assets gives you a huge advantage as a creator. You can study how professional products are built, troubleshoot issues with your own files, and learn techniques that aren't documented anywhere else.
